1. Read chapter 8 of TFA, and complete the chapter 8 questions:

1. How does Okonkwo feel about his daughter Ezinma?
2. How does Okonkwo feel about himself after the death of Ikemefuna?
3. How does Obierika feel about the killing of Ikemefuna? How is his attitude different than Okonkwo’s?
4. Why is Okonkwo confused about Ogbuefi Ndulue, the old man in the other tribe that died, who he thought was a ‘strong man’? What makes him less ‘strong’ in Okonkwo’s opinion (but not necessarily in Obierika’s opinion or Ofoedu’s opinion)?
5. What difference is there in the different clan cultures regarding tapping trees and the ozo title?
6. How do the families bargain the dowry of Obierika’s daughter?
7. What are three different practices in different cultures that are mentioned regarding dowries at the end of the chapter? List what the traditions are.
8. How do the clan members talking about the cultural differences react to these differences?
