1. Write the rough draft for your persuasive essay (you may write or type it). Make sure it is in paragraph form and you follow the rubric guidelines.
2. Choose a song that you like and print out the lyrics. Bring them to class.

1. VL5 word picture and fill in the personal connection sentence on your packet. Quiz next class!
2. "Flowers for Algernon" POV journal typed -- due next class!
Requirements:

  • Journal must be typed (feel free to be creative with how it looks otherwise – this is not in MLA format)
  • Journal must be in first person past tense
  • Journal must be limited and unreliable
  • Journal must reference at least four events from the text
  • Impress yourself with your work: Don’t do “just enough” to get by

3. Work on the CMs in your essay packet (CDs should already be done).

1. Read "Flowers for Algernon" part 2 (the last part) and do the part 2 questions on the back side of the sheet from class.
2. Do VL5 context sentences and fill in the definition guess. Click here for the list of words (it's a powerpoint file) and where you can find them in the story (try not to look at the actual definitions!). Click here for the vocab packet.
3. Fill in the entire intro page, the topic sentences for the body paragraphs, and the CDs for the body paragraphs on those pages for the persuasive essay.
