2. Complete the Circle Discussion Questions sheet*

*for per. 5 students, the questions are below:
1. What different ways does Siddhartha try to learn and reach enlightenment? What does he think is the best way to learn? In the last chapters, what is the book saying about how all people can/should learn how to change their lives or become happy?
2. How does Siddhartha search for happiness? What makes him happy? What ‘techniques’ are most effective for making a person happy (according to the text)? What message about personal happiness is the book communicating, especially near the end?
3. What symbolism have you noticed in the book? What could these symbols stand for? How does the symbolism connect to the ideas of learning, enlightenment, and happiness?

Friday, 2/20/09.

Composition
1. Finish reading the myths of lovers: Pyramus & Thisbe (105-107), Ceyx & Alcyone (110-112), Daphne (119-120).
2. Finish making a timeline or event map and writing about the origins about the lovers myths on the sheet handed out in class.

2. Read ch 10, "The Son", and be ready for a quiz on Monday about the chapter.
